For hard moments, not emergencies. In crisis, call or text 988, or call 911. Pregnant or postpartum and struggling? The National Maternal Mental Health Hotline is there 24/7: 1-833-TLC-MAMA.
Boiling over · 9–10
Use this when you’re about to explode: your body is shaking, your voice is rising, and your kid is right there. About 3 minutes.
How do you want to do this?
Close your eyes if you can. You can lock your screen and keep listening.
Cold water, an ice cube or a bag of frozen peas on your wrists and face: 30 seconds on, then off, then on again. Step away if your kid is safe: “Mama needs one minute.” Breathe out longer than you breathe in. It won’t make you feel good; it takes the edge off.
Skip the cold if you have a heart condition, a slow heart rate or an eating disorder.
Practice at a 3, use it at a 9–10.
